Sonoma Valley residents will soon be able to get mental health care, crisis support and homelessness services close to home — without traveling to Santa Rosa.
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved a three-year lease in February for office space at 19080 Lomita Ave., expanding the Lomitas campus as a local hub for health and social services. The new space will bring together several Department of Health Services programs, including behavioral health, youth and family services, crisis response and homelessness outreach.
Health Services staff are expected to move into the offices this summer.
The Lomitas campus already houses the East Sonoma County Services Center, which helps residents access a range of county programs. Visitors can meet with staff to apply for Medi-Cal and CalFresh, get help with child support services or enroll in the WIC nutrition program for pregnant women, new mothers and young children.
County leaders say bringing more services to the campus will make it easier for Sonoma Valley residents to get help in one place. Instead of navigating multiple offices across the county, residents will be able to connect with health care, family support programs and homelessness outreach locally.
The expansion also moves forward the county’s long-term effort to build neighborhood-based service centers that improve access to government services, particularly in communities outside Santa Rosa.
For residents facing a mental health crisis, trying to secure benefits or seeking housing support, the change could mean faster help — and fewer barriers to getting it.
